Neurologic Conditions
There are many Nerve (Neurologic) Conditions that can affect the feet and the lower extremities.  To Diagnose any these conditions Dr. Farkas orders Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS) as well as Electromyogram Studies (EMG).  The testing is conveniently performed in this office by appointment.
Common conditions requiring Neurologic Testing
Diabetic Neuropathy
Burning Feet
Muscle Weakness of the Lower Extremities
Neuroma
Neuritis
Tingling
Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome
Sciatica
Drop Foot
Numbness of the Foot and Leg
Pinched Nerves
EMG stands for Electromyogram which loosely translated means electrical testing of muscles but in fact has come to mean electrical testing of nerves and muscles. The EMG is performed by a specialist, the Electromyographer, who is usually a Neurologist or a Physiatrist. Parts of the test,  the nerve conduction, evaluates the functioning of the nerves of the lower extremity. The testing is performed in our office and on average, an EMG takes anywhere between  1 and 2 hours, depending on how extensive the testing is needed.  Please contact our office for an appointment and you will be evaluated for the necessary Neurologic testing.
